Early screenings of Marvel Studios’ most latest movie offering occurred Tuesday night and overall reactions are very positive for the motley crew of anti-heroes. Consisting of former villains and shady protagonists, a group that was assigned to kill themselves off, join forces and create the Thunderbolts*.

Since the official title announcement, fans have speculated what the “*” stood for in the title. Some thought it was a placeholder for another title, later to be revealed. Others speculated it was a way to differentiate themselves from Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross after the events of Captain America: Brave New World. These theories couldn’t be farther from the actual meaning.
In a recent poster release around the time of the European Premiere, we find our answer.

If you cannot see the fine print all that well, let us help you with that.

If you were hoping for a big reveal, or even a really deep reference… sorry to disappoint. The Thunderbolts will be standing in for the yet to be re-assembled Avengers. Never fear “True Believers”! When you go to watch the film, be sure to stay for the credits, as there are promises for hints for the future, leading to Doomsday!
