Netflix has taken care to pose itself as an anime mainstay, not only by providing selections that can compete for audiences against Crunchyroll, but by providing exclusive anime series you can’t find anywhere else.
One of those very shows is called Delicious in Dungeon. If you are a fan of Dungeons & Dragons and Diners, Drive-ins, & Dives then Delicious in Dungeon is for you!
The series starts with our party reeling after the loss of one of their members that is eaten by a crimson dragon. Some of the party wants to head back in to save her immediately, but the rest abandon the party due to lack of money, supplies, and honestly morale. Those that abandon caution and head back in encounter a culinary master of a dwarf, and not only find ways to overcome their psychological issues, but they also find a way to sustain themselves by eating the monsters they encounter within the dungeon. Disgusting creatures become, shall we say, delicious treats.
Delicious in Dungeon is part adventure story, part cooking show, and entirely entertaining. The characters are interesting and the circumstances creative enough that this Dungeon Master plans to take notes for future campaigns. Delicious in Dungeon also breaks the anime recipe from avoiding slow paced narratives during battles and keeps a nicely steady pace.
If you find yourself starving for a new anime, sink your teeth into Delicious in Dungeon, it’s bound to satisfy!
Delicious in Dungeon is streaming now, only on Netflix!
